Dental Checkup
The best way to keep your teeth healthy and prevent problems is to have regular cleanings every six months. Here we explain everything you can expect when you schedule your dental cleaning.
Oral prophylaxis
This is also called professional teeth cleaning. Oral prophylaxis is the basic step to making your teeth healthy. This procedure removes tartar and other elements stuck in between your teeth that can’t be removed by normal tooth brushing. To keep your teeth healthy, we recommend prophylaxis twice a year. For further protection and maintenance, we will also recommend at-home oral hygiene ways and preventive treatments as needed.
What happens during a routine dental checkup?
Even if you brush and floss your teeth regularly, you still need a dental cleaning. The hygienist will use a scaler to remove the build-up of plaque and tar between your teeth and around the gum line. Next, the hygienist will polish the teeth and floss. Depending on if you floss regularly, your gums might be a little tender after the cleaning. The tenderness will not last long and it will not interfere with eating or talking.
Tooth Extractions
At ELITE DENTAL CLINIC LIMITED, we do all we can to help you preserve all the teeth in your mouth because we know your teeth are essential for speaking, eating, and your overall facial structure. Sometimes, however, it cannot be saved and the tooth must be extracted.
Wisdom tooth/teeth
A wisdom tooth generally requires removal if there is not enough space for it to erupt in the mouth. In such cases, it often tilts in an awkward position, may get stuck under the adjacent teeth, cause food lodgment and consequently caries in the same or adjacent teeth. In such cases, we advise an X-ray to verify its position, its relation with the surrounding vital structures and then decide upon its removal.
